A New Model for Optimal Routing in All–Optical Networks with Scalable Number of Wavelength Converters1

چکیده
A novel approach for modeling the optimal routing and wavelength assignment problem in wavelength division multiplexed all–optical networks is proposed. It is assumed that the optical switching nodes are equipped with a limited and scalable set of wavelength converters which can be used by any subset of incoming optical–connections. The proposed model, called the interconnected–layered–graph, provides an exact solution of the optimal routing and wavelength assignment problem in wavelength convertible networks with arbitrary number of wavelength converters at each node. Previously this problem has been modeled as optimal routing problem in electronic circuit switched networks where an incoming connection can be routed at an intermediate node on any available outgoing circuit. This assumption is not realistic in optical networks as it implies that each node is equipped with a large number of wavelength converters, such that the wavelengths of all the incoming optical connections can be converted if required. A dynamic routing and wavelength assignment scheme, which is based on the proposed interconnected–layered–graph model, is also presented and it is evaluated for various network configurations. Title subject category: Optical Systems and Networks.

A Novel Protection Guaranteed, Quality of Transmission Aware Routing and Wavelength Assignment Algorithm for All-optical Networks
Transparent All Optical Networks carry huge traffic and any link failure can cause the loss of gigabits of data; hence protection and its guarantee becomes necessary at the time of failure. Many protection schemes were presented in the literature, but none of them speaks about protection guarantee. Also, in all optical networks, due to absence of regeneration capabilities, the physical layer i...

In recent years a new type of wireless networks named wireless mesh networks has drawn the attention of researchers. In order to increase the capacity of mesh network, nodes are equipped with multiple radios tuned on multiple channels emerging multi radio multi channel wireless mesh networks. Therefore, the main challenge of these networks is how to properly assign the channels to the radios. O...

A design problem of cross-docking distribution networks is addressed as a new research area in logistics management. This paper presents a new mathematical model for the location of cross-docking facilities and vehicle routing scheduling problems in distribution networks. For this purpose, a two-phase mixed-integer programming (MIP) is formulated. Then, a new heuristic-based simulated annealing...

We consider the problem of routing and assignment of wavelength (RAW) in optical networks. Given a set of requests for all-optical connections (or lightpaths), the problem is to [a)find routes from the source nodes to their respective destination nodes, and [ b) assign wavelengths to these routes. Since the number of wavelengths is limited, lightpaths cannot be established between every pair of...
